PESHAWAR: Eleven ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will be sworn in on Thursday, raising the strength of the provincial cabinet to 13 and ending speculations about differences over distribution of ministries among coalition partners.

The decision was taken after a meeting which concluded at midnight on Wednesday.

Of the 11 ministers, seven are from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) — journalist-turned politician Shaukat Yousafzai, Shah Farman, Israrullah Gandapur, Yousuf Ayub, Mehmood Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur and Mr Atif.

Six of the seven PTI nominees are new to the corridors of power.

Mr Ayub had served as a minister earlier in the PML-N government headed by Sardar Mattab Abbasi.

The nominees of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) are Inayatullah Khan and Habibur Rehman and of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Bakht Baidar Khan and Mr Abrar.

JI’s Sirajul Haq and QWP’s Sikandar Sherpao earlier took oath as senior ministers.

Portfolios of new ministers have not been announced and a decision is expected after the oath-taking ceremony at the Governor’s House.
