QUETTA: Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi on Sunday night resigned as Governor Balochistan after prime minister-in-waiting Nawaz Sharif announced to bring the next governor from Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).

Speaking exclusively to Dawn.com, Magsi said that he has rendered his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif had announced the nomination of National Party’s (NP) Abdul Malik Baloch for the post of Balochistan chief minister. In post-meeting press conference, Sharif also said that the next Balochistan governor would be appointed from PkMAP.

It is pertinent to mention that Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi had resigned from the post citing "personal reasons" two years ago also. However, President Zardari did not accept his resignation.
