ISLAMABAD, May 27: Exports of fish and seafood products increased by 4.46 per cent during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year over the corresponding period of last year.
The overall exports of fish and seafood products were recorded at $270.301 million during July-April (2012-13) against the exports of $258.766m during July-April (2011-12), data shared by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) suggests.
During the period under review, as much as 124,141 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported against 105,366 metric tonnes exported last year, showing increase of 17.82pc.
It is worth noting that seafood exports increased by 5.22pc in April 2013 when compared to the exports of April 2012.Fish exports during April 2013 stood at $38.042m against the exports of $36.155m in April 2012, PBS data revealed.
On month-on-month basis, the exports of fish increased by 17.16pc, going up from $32.470m in March 2013 to $38.042m in April 2013. The overall food exports from the country increased by 12.27pc during the period under review, going up from $3.521 billion last year to $3.953bn in current year.—APP
