SWABI, May 26: Two women from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and one from Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) are likely to return on the women reserved seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from Swabi district, it is learnt.

Same was the number of women parliamentarians from the district after the 2008 elections; they were MNA Bushra Gohar and MPAs Yasmeen Jasim and Sitara Ayaz from the ANP. Ms Yasmeen belonged to Maneri Bala while the other two were from Jhanda village.

Two of the three new faces this time also belong to Jhanda village and one hails from Maneri Bala.

None of the female candidates from the district has applied for the women reserved seats in the National Assembly.

“None of the female candidates has taken interest in the women reserved seats of National Assembly and two women from PTI – Ayesha Naeem and Naseem Hayat – would return on the women seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly,” Asad Qaisar, PTI provincial president, told Dawn.

He said that Swabi was the fourth most populous district of the province and there were numerous problems. He hoped that the women MPAs would help in resolving various problems of the people.

Ayesha Naeem, PTI women wing provincial joint secretary, has confirmed that Naseem Hayat is her cousin. They belong to Jhanda village.

“Naseem Hayat has married in Kohat and is the women wing’s provincial vice-president,” she said.

The Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) leadership has nominated Khatoon Bibi for the women reserved seat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

Abdul Munim, MPA-elect from PK-88, Shangla-II, has joined the AJIP and now the party is in position to get one woman reserved seat in the assembly.

In addition the AJIP expects that the issue of provincial ministry would be resolved soon with the PTI leadership.
