KARACHI, May 22: Dazzling centuries by openers Fakhar Zaman and Mubashir Ahmed were the highlights of the remaining three quarter-finals in the Mehdi Hasan Memorial KCCA Inter-club cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The left-handed Fakhar smashed a whirlwind 118 off 83 balls with the aid of 14 boundaries and one six as Pakistan CC trounced Alamgir Gymkhana by eight wickets at the KCCA Stadium.

Off-spinner Junaid Ilyas earlier grabbed four wickets for 17 runs in restricting Alamgir Gymkhana to 173-9 in the allotted 40 overs.

Mubashir scored an undefeated 102 to help Pak Korangi CC crushed Al-Noor Gymkhana by nine wickets at the TMC Ground.

Mubashir, who adorned his 106-ball knock with 10 fours and one six, shared a first-wicket partnership of 149 with Ashraf Ali (78 with nine boundaries) as their side made light work of their 213-run target with 24 deliveries to spare.

Slow left-armer Shahid Ali captured four wickets for 19 and Hasan Sajjad struck 60 (eight boundaries) while guiding Landhi Friends to a six-wicket victory over Dawood Sports in a low-scoring game at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.

Malir Gymkhana, inspired by a brilliant Khurram Manzoor, had already qualified for the semi-finals on Tuesday after cruising to an eight-wicket win against Nazimabad Gymkhana at the TMC Ground.

The semi-finals will be played at a later date with favourites Pakistan CC taking on Pak Korangi CC and Malir Gymkhana facing Landhi Friends, according to KCCA tournament secretary Touseef Siddiqui.
