Search for Ali Gilani continues; gang leader arrested

PESHAWAR: The security forces operation for the recovery of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani's son, Ali Haider Gilani, is continuing as police arrested the head of the suspected group, which might have kidnapped Ali Haider Gilani from Multan.

According to sources the arrested accused has been identified as Wazir Gul who is the brother of Mullah arrested by police on Thursday from Marhati area of Akora Khattak in Nowshera.daa

Police say that Wazir Gul is running an interprovincial gang of kidnappers and police is investigating him to find a clue to Gilani's son.

On Thursday, a rescue operation was conducted to recover a person believed to be Gilani in a compound in Nowhera, but the person recovered was an individual named Abdul Wahab, who said that Gilani was kept with him in the compound along with five other kidnapped persons.

The police have extended the hunt for Gilani to the subarban areas of Nowshera and the adjoining Charsadda distric after the arrest of Wazir Gul from Charsadda road in Nowshera.
