AFTER Pakistan came in to being, the Kashmiri people decided to go with Pakistan and considered themselves Pakistani. They feel proud to introduce themselves to the world as Pakistanis in foreign countries. Cricket is also played in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Some very talented cricketers belong to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. One of them is Afaq Rahim who is currently playing from Islamabad region. He also represented under-19 and Pakistan national team in few one-day matches.

We have two international standard cricket stadiums, one in Muzaffarabad and the other in Mirpur. A few matches have also been played at Quaid-i-Azam Stadium, Mirpur.

However, Azad Jammu and Kashmir is yet to be included in Pakistan domestic cricket. I request the chief pattern and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board to include Azad Jammu and Kashmir as one of the regions in domestic cricket.

Perhaps Western ‘statesmen’ may moderate their policies if a significant percentage of voters punish them at the ballot box.
